McCarthy Cabins. An amazing place to stay in McCarthy-Kennicott.

The Basics

  • 2-night minimum (3-nights over July 4th and Labor Day weekends).

  • Being a small business with a tiny crew, McCarthy Cabins has a set check-in window of 3-7pm. There is a late arrival fee of $50 between 7-8pm. Sorry, there are no arrivals after 8pm.

  • Each of our three cozy log cabins feature a kitchenette, a private shower house, a well-maintained outhouse, comfy bedding, and more!

  • Privacy! Each cabin is on a separate property surrounded by beautiful Alaska wilderness.

  • Yes! You can drive to each of the cabins. Guests staying at McCarthy Cabins must have a vehicle (not flying or taking a shuttle in).

  • No additional taxes or fees

  • McCarthy Cabins has a Pack it In, Pack it Out policy, meaning - please don’t leave anything behind (food, gear, trash, etc.)

  • We love them, but sorry, no pets.

  • Smoke-free properties.

Swift Creek Cabin, $195+ per night

Swift Creek details

Sleeps up to three guests: 1 double bed, 1 twin bed (mini-loft).

Swift Creek Cabin sits on nearly 8 acres of stunning Alaska wilderness, with breathtaking views of the Chitina River Valley and the Chugach Mountains. The property features two 12’ x 16’ log cabins—one is my home, and the other is for guests. This cozy cabin comfortably sleeps 1-3 guests, with a full-sized bed and a twin mini-loft. Rates are $195 per night for 1-2 guests, $25 for an additional guest.

Your cabin includes: Beautiful valley and mountain views, mini-kitchenette with a two-burner cook-top (good for simple, ready-to-eat meals), basic kitchen supplies (pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc.), charging station for small devices*, filtered drinking water and non-potable water for dishes and showers, private outdoor log shower house, well-maintained outhouse, cozy bedding and towels, solar and propane lights, a wall heater, privacy, and loads of amazing memories! There isn’t a refrigerator in Swift Creek Cabin. Coolers with ice packs work great!

Bluff Cabin, $295+ per night

Bluff details

Sleeps up to five guests: 1 queen bed (loft) and 2 twins (bunk room), couch (living room).

Bluff Cabin is nestled on 20 acres of stunning Alaska wilderness, with breathtaking views of the Kennicott River and Chitina River Valley. This cozy log cabin comfortably sleeps five, featuring a queen-sized bed in the loft and twin bunk beds in a downstairs bedroom. An additional guest can stay if they're happy with the couch. The loft is accessible by steep, ladder-style stairs, best suited for guests comfortable with this type of access. Rates are $295 per night for 1-2 guests, $25 per additional guest up to 5.

Your cabin includes: stunning river valley and mountain views, wood stove for heat (firewood is provided), kitchenette with a small propane fridge, 4-burner stove-top (no oven), basic kitchen supplies (pots, pans, dishes, utensils), a private shower house and well-maintained outhouse, filtered drinking water, cozy bedding and towels, a solar charging station for small devices*, living room, loft bedroom, bunk room, large deck with a picnic table, propane and solar lights with backup propane lighting (during cloudy/rainy periods), loads of privacy, and unforgettable memories!

Sleeps up to four guests: 1 queen bed (full loft), 1 queen hide-away couch bed.

Meadow Cabin is set on 10 acres of beautiful Alaska wilderness, offering a peaceful retreat. This charming cabin sleeps four, with a queen-sized bed in the loft and a queen-size hideaway couch bed downstairs, plus a foam pad for added comfort. The loft is accessed by fairly steep, ladder-style stairs, ideal for guests comfortable with this type of access. Rates are $245 per night for 1-2 guests, $25 per additional guest up to 4.

Your cabin includes: partial mountain views, wood stove for heat (firewood is provided), kitchenette with a small propane fridge, 2-burner cook-top (no oven), basic kitchen supplies (pots, pans, dishes, utensils), a private shower house and well-maintained outhouse, filtered drinking water, cozy bedding and towels, a solar charging station for small devices*, living room, full loft bedroom, large deck with table and chairs, solar lights with backup propane lighting (during cloudy/rainy periods), loads of privacy, and unforgettable memories!
